null

The fourth and final world of Wizard101’s fourth story arc, Wallaru is a mysterious world of Koalas and Kangaroos, Wallabies and Wombats. The Wizard has met a scholar from Wallaru, and now they’ll finally travel there! Inspired by Australia at the turn of the 20th century, Wallaru is the land of the Outback, where inspiration awaits those who can become one with The Dreaming.

Wizards begin their tour of Wallaru in Hope Springs and then move into the Outback, seeking the fabled Dreaming while engaging in adventurous quests all along the way. Can you ease tensions between the local factions and open the way to The Dreaming? Will the answers they find there bring peace to the living world of Novus before the Spiral goes to war? Or will a lurking evil turn the dream into a nightmare?

New Spells

Each school will also get a new spell! After the first half of Wallaru, players will be called to complete brand-new school specific spell quests. These spells are AOEs and continue melding schools of magic to give even more power!

Introducing the Guild Museum

null

Welcome to the Guild Museum where you can immortalize your guild’s adventures through the Spiral. The Avalon Gallery can now be unlocked with the help of players in your guild. Speak to Finn Celtus on the Guild Island to get started. First your guild must unlock Museum Island.

null

On Museum Island, you’ll find a Druidic device called a Prima Magnes which grants elixirs that allows you to collect the Prima Materia of artifacts for the exhibits. To power the Prima Magnes, your guild will need to craft a Quintescent Core. Once powered, the Prima Magnes will stay active for a few minutes.

null

To use the Prima Magnes, two or more players must cast Magic Touch on the Prima Magnes to get a Prima Magnetism Elixir. If 2 to 5 players perform the ritual, they will all receive a Basic Prima Magnetism elixir which will collect 1 Prima Materia of an artifact. 6 to 11 players will receive a Standard Prima Magnetism elixir which will collect 2 Prima Materia of an artifact. 12 or more players will receive a Superior Prima Magnetism which will collect 3 Prima Materia of an artifact.

When you have a Prima Magnetism Elixir and are in a gallery world, you will be level-scaled appropriately.

At least 2 players with a Prima Magnetism Elixir must be present in a fight to collect the Prima Materia of an Artifact. Collect all the Prima Materia of the Artifacts in an Exhibit to enable the Promotion Ritual. Exhibits can have up to three tiers, Bronze, Silver and Gold. The first time an exhibit is promoted, it is revealed in the Gallery.

Once all the Exhibits have been promoted, perform a Promotion Ritual on the Gallery Podium to promote the entire Gallery. Galleries also have three tiers, Bronze, Silver and Gold. Promoting the Gallery unlocks rewards.

New Beastmoon Forms

Fire Fairy

null

Fire Fairy may be small, but it’s more powerful than other small Fire forms with its ability to deal big damage while also setting up massive Damage Over Time effects. Use this Fairy to demolish any Myth opponents.

Myth Krokomummy

null

Myth Krokommumy relies on its minion more than other Myth forms, but fear not; the minion will go further than any minion to protect its owner. Plus! You can use the summon minion spell to buff your other hits while your minion is present.

Life Rat Thief

null

Introducing the strongest healer to ever walk the Beastmoon Arenas: Life Rat Thief! Life Rat has a strong ability to keep itself and allies alive for as long as possible while also dealing a satisfactory amount of damage. Also, Life Rat sees the return of the healing afterlife last seen on Life Draconian.

Balance Elf

null

With the Balance Elf, you can manipulate your opponent’s pips like never before by removing and stealing pips. As all Balance forms use a combination between two hanging effects to leverage, the Balance Elf uses DOTs and Weaknesses together. This form is a powerful competitor for any Beastmoon team.

Death Colossus

null

Having trouble fighting against Storm forms and all their blades? Death Colossus punishes Blades harder than any other form. It also has many other tricks up its sleeves as it tries to deal damage and weaken its opponents.

PVP CHANGES

The Crying Sky Raid

Get ready to raid the servers! The team is dropping from the sky some fun and challenging new content and a bunch of updates to other features, starting with the new Crying Sky Raid!

That’s not all though, we’ve also been dropping hints at an important feature you all have been asking for a long time now to have - name and gender change options! No longer are you locked to the original name and gender you started with perhaps as long as the initial launch of the game way back in 2008!

In addition to the new Crying Sky Raid and Name/Gender Change options, this update also includes Challenge Mode improvements (get all the details on how Challenge Mode works below), Beastmoon event updates, and new in-person Pet Kiosk features!

Have a look at the update notes below and then log in to check it all out!

THE CRYING SKY RAID

“Something reverberates across the skyways, the heavens scream out one word: Xibalba! Azteca is laid waste! Still her children hide from the fiery ruin raining on their cities.”

Gather your strongest 12 Guild members to see if you can beat the newest challenge, The Crying Sky Raid, that takes place in a brand-new area of Azteca. To access this raid, you will need to be max level and you must complete a pre-quest given by the new Raidmaster, Gwyn Fellwarden, who resides in Dun Dara Avalon. Then, you can craft the new raid key and proceed through the Battle Gate on Guild Island. There are all sorts of new mechanics to challenge you throughout the experience.

Be warned, this will NOT be easy. Complete this Raid to get new gear, pets, jewels, and more!

Name and Gender Change Options

Did you perhaps name your character after a character in the movie Star Wars or perhaps after a famous singer? Did you select random button and get a name like Blake MythPetal? If this describes one of your characters, we can now offer a solution.

We are happy to share that one of our most requested features is finally here! Wizards can now visit the Magic Mirror Shop in the Shopping District of Wizard City to select a name and gender change. Your character must be at least level 50. This one-time change is permanent and costs 100 Crowns.

At the Magic Mirror, you can either change just your name, or your name and gender. And not only that, but each name category now has double the options! These new names will be available both at the Magic Mirror and when you create a new wizard. Most of the new names were taken from suggestions from the community, with our own input sprinkled in to ensure a balance with our priorities. We wish we could accommodate everyone’s suggestions, but we hope these additions are a refreshing change!

And don’t worry, your friends will still know who you are! When a Wizard changes their name, it’ll automatically update all friends lists they appear in. An icon next to their name will notify the player that that Wizard has changed their name. Your friend can view your old Wizard name to familiarize themselves with who you were.

Photomancy Use: Using Photomancy after changing your name will create a new image folder under that name. The old folder and its images are still preserved.

We know the community is as excited about this feature as we are, and we are happy to provide a space where players can align their Wizards with their preferred online identity.

Challenge Mode Updates

null

In our first iteration of Challenge mode, we took some challenging fights and gave them standard mode encounters for easier story mode progression. The status quo fights were then put in the challenge sigil. In this update, we have taken those status quo fights and given them a Challenge Mode makeover. Players who wish to take on these fights will find that things have changed, and they are now much more … interesting. As a reminder- here are the fights affected:
  • Empyrea - Sepidious - The Headquarters
  • Empyrea – Husk - Storm Titan’s Wake
  • Lemuria – Hall of Heroes, Note: There is a known bug in Hall of Heroes (Challenge) where some of the rules of advanced combat are not being applied. We are working towards a fix.
Players who take on the challenge mode for these fights can expect the following:
  • Additional cheats
  • Advanced rules (No Enchants, no Standard Mode spells, and more!)
  • Increased drop rates on those bosses’ loot
A new “?” icon has been added to the sigil which will display the restrictions/rules for that challenge mode sigil.

Several spells have been banned from Advanced Combat. These include:
  • Feint
  • Bad Juju
  • Backdraft
  • Supercharge
  • Enfeeble
  • Shatter
  • Dimension Shift
Four damage AoE spells have been given spellement paths that increase their damage.
  • Blizzard
  • Humongofrog
  • Meteor Strike
  • Sandstorm
These are found in Beastmoon alongside the other event Spellements.

Advanced combats will also utilize the new level scaling feature. Wizards at higher levels than the content will have their stats scaled back to the appropriate level for the content. All spells from trainers, treasure cards, items, and pets that are restricted to higher levels will be removed from the combat. The process of implementing level scaling is ongoing.

NEW BEASTMOON BEASTFORMS

Balance Ninja Pig

Balance Ninja Pig punishes players who are sitting on pips for too long and it’s the first Balance form without a Swap spell. Instead, Echo, the mechanic that adds a matching enemy-placed hanging effect without removing it, will be brought over to Beastmoon.

Ice Cyclops

The ultimate tank form, Ice Cyclops, plays with Auras like no form has previously done before. Adding an aura to a teammate is a new way to help as a tank. Like the other large Ice forms, the Cyclops can increase its damage output conditionally based on how it plays.

Storm Minotaur

Unlike most Storm forms, the Storm Minotaur is primarily focused on supporting teammates rather than dealing damage itself. It does this by adding powerful damage hits to allies, blading, and even healing.

IN-PERSON PET KIOSK UPDATES

Pets in the Hatchmaking Kiosk can now be hatched in person. In person hatching is lots cheaper and the player lending the pet earns pet leading rewards.

There is a new option on the main Hatchmaking Kiosk window to allow in person hatching. When in person hatching is enabled, newly added pets to the kiosk will be in person eligible. If you disable in person hatching, it’s disabled for pets already in the kiosk and for newly added pets.

You can search in person pets for talents or on both kiosk and in person hatched pets. When a pet can be hatched in person, you may choose to hatch in person or via the kiosk.

The lending player must be on-line, have a pet lending slot available and not be busy with combat. We ask them if they want to hatch and if they agree, both players are teleported to Hatchery.

In the Hatchery, an arrow is displayed over the other player and the name of the pet that they what to hatch with is displayed in the chat window.

Pet Derby Returns!

You can now play either Ranked or Practice Pet Derby matches to earn event points for the Pet Promenade! Participating in the Pet Promenade event earns you tiered rewards and progress towards the Scroll of Fortune!

PVP CHANGES

null

Level Scaling has come to PvP! Players that are higher than the level of a particular league can now participate in that league. Participant stats will be scaled down to that league’s supported levels and spells will be level gated to fit within the rules of said league. This means your Prime wizard can participate in any of the lower-level leagues while being on fair footing with other participants. Trained, item and treasure card spells are being level gated. This process is ongoing and will continue.

Rate My Stitch

null

The team is dropping some fabulous content featuring the new Rate My Stitch system that will encourage Wizards around the Spiral to Make. It. Work.

Today’s update takes stitching to the next level by allowing Wizards to strut their stuff in official competition and rankings in the Rate My Stitch events (events to be run sometime after the update goes live). If you’re not quite ready to traverse the catwalk, you can rate others’ styles, try out new designs in the Fashion Studio, or browse the leaderboards for your next look! There will also be special Rate My Stitch events themed around different styles with lucrative rewards like new gear in the Hall of Fame. Another reward players may earn in these events is a Stitch Token reagent, which allows you to stitch or unstitch a piece of gear for free.

In addition to Rate My Stitch, this update also includes the start of new challenge options for playing through certain bosses to make it easier to progress (with more to come on this feature in future updates; see below for details on how it works). There are also new competitive event options and rewards, a new gauntlet, and more!

RATE MY STITCH

null

Our team has a serious passion for fashion and wants to see what extravagant outfits your Wizard has to show off! Would you like feedback on your outfits? Are you looking for outfit inspiration? Would you like to show off your stitching skills? Rate My Stitch allows you to do these things!

Talk to Maxwell Sharp in the Shopping District to get started. Maxwell Sharp’s Rate My Stitch shop has these options:
  • Rate an Outfit – This is where you can view and rate other players’ outfits. You will see the contestant ‘model’ teleport to the stage, walk to the spotlight, and finally display an emote or dance. You can mouse over the Hat, Robe, Boots, Weapon and Pet buttons to see exactly what the model is wearing. Clicking one of these buttons will display where you can get that item for yourself! The mouse wheel zooms in or out on their outfit, and you can click-and-drag to rotate the model left and right.
  • Add My Outfit – Select this to add your currently equipped outfit for other players to rate. You may select a teleport and an emote. You may also include your pet in your ensemble! Outfits are submitted to Rate My Stitch for 30 days.
  • My Outfits – See how other players like your outfits. Each of your outfits displays an average star rating along with how many votes it’s received. Outfits that are especially well liked can earn a Judges’ Choice award. You may also remove your outfits from consideration here.
  • Fashion Studio – Experiment with your look! In the Fashion Studio you can try on outfits or pieces of outfits from the top models on the leaderboards. Mix your outfit with these pieces, and experiment with the colors of dyeable gear.
  • Leaderboards – See the top outfits in the Spiral.
  • Hall of Fame – See the top event outfits.

null

Occasionally, there will be special Rate My Stitch events themed around different styles. When rating event outfits, consider how well the outfit matches the event’s theme. Points are awarded for both rating event outfits and for rating overall outfits. If you submit an outfit for the event and it earns a Judges Choice award, you may claim points for it on the My Outfits window.

One of the rewards you may earn from the Rate My Stitch event is a Stitch Token. Stitch Tokens are collected on your Reagents tab. If you have a Stitch Token in your inventory, you may stitch or unstitch a piece of gear for free, and the Stitch Token will be deducted instead.

Challenge Mode

null

An exciting new option to tailor combat to your taste is being kicked off alongside today’s Rate My Stitch update!

‘Challenge Mode’ is a feature being developed with player choice in mind. After completing a sigiled encounter the first time, players will then have the option to choose a different difficulty the next time they play through. This system will allow players to progress through the storyline without getting stuck, while those who are itching for a challenge can opt in.

For this initial rollout, we have taken 3 existing “Cheating Bosses” and placed them behind Challenge Mode instead. The encounters that you will experience the first time through have been recalibrated to allow more players to progress: we have removed unhelpful cheats, and overall rebalanced the difficulty to facilitate easier mainline progress for more players.

The 3 encounters that have been transitioned this update are:
  • Empyrea - Sepidious - The Headquarters – Quest: Brain Drain
  • Empyrea – Husk - Storm Titan’s Wake - Quest: Braving the Storm
  • Lemuria – Hall of Heroes - Hall of Heroes - Quest: To Err is Hero
Remember, in order to access the challenge encounter, you must first complete the quest via the standard encounter first. Standard is used to describe the mainline story combats, while Challenge is used for optional combats that contain unique cheats, advanced rules, or harder puzzles that are not seen in the Standard Mode.

Sigils with Challenge Mode enabled display (Standard) by default at the end of their interaction prompt. To change the Sigil’s interaction prompt, click the Challenge Mode button in the bottom right corner. You will see the interaction prompts title change to (Challenge).

null

null

If you see a greyed-out button in the corner, you can highlight over the icon to see a tool tip that will inform you of any requirements needed to unlock Challenge Mode. You will not be able to interact with Sigils in Challenge Mode if you do not meet the requirements.

null

The first person to interact with the Sigil chooses Standard or Challenge mode. If you wish to join someone currently on the sigil, select the option on your own UI to match their selection. If another player has already activated the sigil and you do not wish to enter that mode, wait for the timer to expire and interact with the sigil yourself once they have entered their own instance.

null

Team-Up Kiosk:

When interacting with the Team Up Kiosk, you might see a new listing with orange text and a skull. This indicates that the request is for Challenge Mode and will be more difficult than the Standard version. If you’re unsure if the listing is for Challenge Mode, mouse over the listing to see the tooltip details.

null

Challenge Mode encounters have their own Dungeon Warnings – if you happen to turn these off through the Challenge Warnings prompt, you may turn them back on through Gameplay Options 2 menu.

null

In the future, rewards will be tailored to the difficulty of the encounter that you choose. You can play through in Standard mode simply to advance the story line, or you can repeat the encounter on Challenge Mode to farm for better rewards.

Challenge Mode applies to select encounters only. More encounters will be transitioned to this system in future updates, with some difficult encounters gaining an easier Standard mode option, and some easy encounters gaining a new Challenge mode option.

Stay tuned – and let us know what you think of this first release!
