Rogan and Jasmine by Rogan DragonFlame

There once was a young boy of 10, who, no matter how hard he tried, ld not fit in. This is the story of that boy and his sister. His sister couldn't fit in either. These are the reasons why: When the boy waved his hand at somebody, something always caught on fire, his sister never shook hands with anyone because if anyone ever did, they would instantly freeze. Their names were Rogan and Jasmine Johnson, or so everyone thought. Now, the story begins.

For the first time in my life, I was left with only my older sister to watch over me. We were both very shocked, not because we were alone, but that there was a crazy looking old man with a glowing staff, calling us Mr. Dragonflame and Ms. Fairyglade.

“W-w-who are you?” asked Jasmine, “How did you get in here?”
“And more importantly”, I added, “Why did you call us Rogan Dragonflame and Jasmine Fairyglade?”

“To answer the first question, my name is Professor Merle Ambrose, Headmaster of Ravenwood School of the magical arts.”

“This man’s a loony,” I whispered to Jasmine

“I most certainly not a loony!” exclaimed Merle, “I am the most sane person in this house is that clear?” he said as he was calming down, “To answer the second question, by going through a dusty old world gate you have in your basement.”

“You mean the door with no frame?” asked Jasmine, “Ever since we found it we were trying to figure out what it went to.”

“Well, now you know that it leads to distant worlds,” said the professor, “And to answer the last question, those are your names children.”

“Our last name is Johnson!” I argued.

“Have your parents told you nothing of your heritage?”

“Yeah, all of our ancestors were either from England, Egypt, China, Norway, or Spain.” I answered.

“Sigh, your ancestors were from Marleybone, Krokotopia, Mooshu, Grizzleheim, Dragonspyre, and Wizard City.”

“You are talking nonsense! Look, just because whenever we make a friendly gesture something either catches on fire or freezes, it does not mean that we are magical!” Exclaimed a very annoyed Jasmine.

“Why do you kids have to grow up in such modern times? Have you ever wondered why those things happen? Have you ever felt that you just do not belong here?” asked Professor Ambrose.

“One, be cause we were born in such modern times. It’s not as if we had a choice. Two, of course we have. Ever since we started school we’ve wondered why we can’t have any friends. And third, we are constantly moving. We have never stayed in one place for more than four years.” Answered a very irritated Rogan.

“You don’t understand do you? You are the children of two of the most powerful wizards that have ever existed. Your mother, Gabriella Lightningshard, was the most brilliant Storm witch in her class, and by extent, in all of Ravenwood. Why, before you were even a thought, she was the Storm teacher for a few years. And your father, Duke Frostbringer, was said to bring the clouds where the mighty civilizations of the Giants were built upon to bring snow from the buildings. Unfortunately, they came to this world before they could be pronounced Headmaster and Headmistress of Ravenwood. Now you, Ms. Jasmine Fairyglade, know where your powers of Ice came from.” Explained a now growing impatient Merle.

“And what about me? Where in the family did my powers come from?” asked a very excited Rogan.

“Unfortunately, we have no idea how you became Fire. According to your birth records, you had a likelier chance of being Ice, like your sister here. But you may still prove to be talented in another school if you’re trained enough. I do hope that we have made no mistake in your schools, but just in case, I brought the Book of Secrets to test you. Here is the book, and your quill Ms. Fairyglade.”
